On the afternoon of June 24, leaders from the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee held a working session with Mr. Willem Schoustra, Agricultural Counselor at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Vietnam, and Ms. Katrine Lovenbalk Lundsby, Agricultural Counselor at the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam. The meeting also included investors exploring opportunities to build high-tech livestock application zones in the province.
Attendees at the meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Gia Lai provincial leaders present were Mr. Vo Ngoc Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Mr. Kpa Thuyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, alongside leaders from various provincial departments, agencies, and local districts.
During the meeting, representatives from De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group presented their proposed "DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Livestock Application Zone" project. With an estimated total investment of 1.030 billion VND, the two corporations plan to develop a high-tech livestock complex spanning 50 to 100 hectares. This will include a farm specifically for 2,500 breeding pigs, meticulously selected and directly imported from the Netherlands.
The project aims to leverage advanced technology throughout its operations, establishing a closed-loop value chain for agricultural products. This comprehensive approach will cover:
- Selection and production of breeding pigs.
- Pig slaughtering.
- Production of organic animal feed.
- Production of organic fertilizers.
- Commercialization of high-quality livestock products for domestic consumption and export to Southeast Asia.
A key objective of the project is also to pilot the establishment of a "disease-free zone" in the region.
During the meeting, Mr. Vo Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, extended a warm welcome to the domestic and international corporations and businesses exploring investment and cooperation opportunities within the province.
He affirmed Gia Lai's commitment to creating all favorable conditions, removing difficulties and obstacles, and simplifying administrative procedures to help investors explore opportunities and establish a long-term presence in the province. Mr. Thanh also expressed hope that once the project is implemented, the surrounding local communities will reap significant benefits.
Furthermore, Chairman Vo Ngoc Thanh conveyed his desire for the Embassies of the Netherlands and Denmark to continue serving as a bridge, connecting more businesses to Vietnam in general, and Gia Lai in particular, to invest in and leverage the province's strengths across various sectors.
