On the morning of May 9, in Biên Hòa City, Đồng Nai province, De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group held a working session with leaders of the Đồng Nai Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments concerning agriculture and livestock farming. The aim of the meeting was for De Heus and Hung Nhon to strengthen cooperation, seek opportunities, and accelerate agricultural development investment in Đồng Nai province.

At the meeting, Mr. Koen De Heus, Co-President and Global CEO of De Heus Group, expressed De Heus's desire to collaborate with local authorities and departments to formulate the most suitable strategy for high-tech industrial agricultural production. He noted that for local livestock businesses to grow, they need to achieve a considerable scale to meet environmental and product quality requirements. Therefore, he emphasized the need for various segments within the livestock production process, requiring multiple businesses to cooperate for development.
"De Heus Group is very keen to collaborate with farmers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and several large businesses in Vietnam to achieve sustainable development together," stated Koen De Heus. "I hope to receive cooperation from both local authorities and businesses."
On behalf of the provincial leadership, Mr. Vo Van Phi, Vice Chairman of the Đồng Nai Provincial People's Committee, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the leaders of De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group to the province for their visit and working session.
Mr. Vo Van Phi outlined Đồng Nai's key directions for livestock development:
- Epidemiological Management: Emphasizing strict disease control to prevent outbreaks within the province, deeming it crucial for the success of the livestock sector.
- Environmental Protection: Ensuring that livestock production activities do not negatively impact the living environment through proper waste management and treatment.
- Technological Advancement: Applying scientific and technical advancements in livestock farming to reduce production costs and enable Đồng Nai's livestock products to compete effectively within Vietnam and globally.
- Production-Consumption Linkage: Connecting production with consumption, forming value chains from slaughtering and processing to exporting, thereby enhancing product value.
- Benefiting Local Residents: Creating opportunities for Đồng Nai residents to benefit from livestock production activities within the province, ultimately improving their livelihoods and knowledge in the sector.
Đồng Nai, a province in the Southeast region, boasts significant agricultural strengths across many districts, including Xuân Lộc, Định Quán, Cẩm Mỹ, Thống Nhất, and Trảng Bom. The province's total natural area is nearly 600,000 hectares, with agricultural production alone accounting for over 350,000 hectares. More than 60% of the population relies on agricultural production.
Đồng Nai has successfully developed concentrated livestock farming, with 90% operating on a farm-scale economy, leaving only about 10% as small-scale production. Notably, Đồng Nai currently leads the nation in pig herds with 2.5 million pigs and is also the "poultry capital" of the country, with a flock size exceeding 25 million birds. The annual agricultural production value of Đồng Nai is over 45 trillion VND, contributing 10% to the province's total product value.
Mr. Vo Van Phi, Vice Chairman of the Đồng Nai Provincial People's Committee, stated that Đồng Nai has developed a livestock development plan until 2025. This plan emphasizes improving the quality of livestock activities, environmental protection, veterinary control, slaughterhouse supervision, and establishing the most suitable value chains.
On this occasion, Mr. Vo Van Phi also extended his gratitude to De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group for their support to Đồng Nai province during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Their assistance with equipment significantly contributed to the province's ability to control the epidemic and achieve certain successes in disease prevention and control efforts.
Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hung Nhon Group, expressed his sincere gratitude to the leaders of the Đồng Nai Provincial People's Committee and its various departments for facilitating the visit and working session for De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group.
