The DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Agricultural Complex, with a total investment of approximately 1.03 trillion VND, marks the fourth project within the DHN high-tech agricultural complex series in Vietnam, a joint venture between De Heus and Hung Nhon.
The DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Agricultural Complex specializes in producing high-quality agricultural products through a closed-loop chain. This comprehensive operation includes:
- Selection and production of breeding pigs and chickens.
- An automated pig slaughterhouse.
- Organic animal feed production.
- Organic fertilizer production.
- Trading of livestock products.
Speaking at the project's groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien highly praised the efforts of Hung Nhon Group and De Heus Group in their joint venture to develop and invest in a series of high-tech livestock farms. These farms will provide high-quality breeding stock to the Central Highlands, Southeast, and South Central Coast regions, aligning with the development strategy for Vietnam's livestock industry in particular, and the country's agricultural sector in general.
"In the context where the livestock industry is facing numerous challenges from international integration and disease control (such as African Swine Fever/ASF, blue ear disease, foot-and-mouth disease, etc.), and is striving to increase its competitiveness towards exporting to countries in the region, this can truly be described as a pioneering high-tech agricultural project," shared Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien.
According to Mr. Vo Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, Gia Lai's development strategy involves a gradual shift from small-scale, dispersed livestock farming to concentrated, industrial-scale operations that apply high technology. This includes organizing production in closed-loop value chains and establishing disease-free livestock zones. The province aims to attract major enterprises to invest in the livestock sector, with 106 high-tech livestock projects totaling over 15 trillion VND in investment.
Mr. Koen De Heus, Co-President and Global CEO of Royal De Heus Group, stated: "The DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Agricultural Complex was established to supply, improve, and enhance the quality of breeding stock for Vietnamese livestock farms. Furthermore, the complex will also create high-quality products for the value chain system and move towards a high-tech and modern agricultural production, aligning with the Vietnamese Government's policy."
Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman and CEO of Hung Nhon Group, shared: "The DHN High-Tech Agricultural Complex not only contributes to creating a modern farming model but also aids in economic development and social welfare in Gia Lai. It provides opportunities and creates jobs for nearly 300 local laborers and ethnic minorities. In the group's long-term development strategy, De Heus and Hung Nhon are also aiming to build a value chain along with a disease-free zone in Gia Lai and its surrounding areas."
