De Heus and Hung Nhon Announce Major High-Tech Livestock Project in Gia Lai

Gia Lai, Vietnam – Following their ongoing investment in Dak Lak province, De Heus Group (Netherlands) and Hung Nhon Group (Vietnam) have officially announced another significant project: the "DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Livestock Application Zone." This venture aims to establish a major livestock hub in the Central Highlands.

On June 24, Mr. Gabor Fluit, CEO of De Heus Group (Asia), and Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman and CEO of Hung Nhon Group, presented the "DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Livestock Application Zone" project to Gia Lai provincial leaders. The two groups will serve as the primary investors.

The project involves the investment and construction of a high-tech livestock complex in Gia Lai province, designed to become a leading center for applying advanced technology in animal husbandry. It will produce products within a closed-loop value chain, encompassing:

• Selection and production of breeding pigs.
• Pig slaughtering.
• Production of organic animal feed.
• Production of organic fertilizer.
• Trading of top-quality Vietnamese livestock products, with an aim for export to Southeast Asia.

According to Mr. Gabor Fluit, this approach offers superior economic efficiency compared to traditional production. It ensures food safety and hygiene, is environmentally friendly in accordance with Vietnamese and international standards, and aims to pilot the establishment of a "disease-free zone."

The project spans 50 to 100 hectares and includes:

• A 2,500-head great-grandparent pig breeding farm, with pigs selected and directly imported from the Netherlands.
• A pork slaughterhouse and organic fertilizer production plant.
• An administration and support services area.
• An organic farming and green space area.
• Land for transportation and technical infrastructure.
• A collection, purchasing, preservation, and packaging area for high-quality export-standard fruits.

The total estimated investment for this project is 1,030 billion VND.

High-Tech Livestock Project in Gia Lai to Utilize 4.0 Technology and Solar Power

The new "DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Livestock Application Zone" project is set to implement 100% 4.0 high technology throughout its farming operations, adhering to international standards. The farm system will be managed and monitored using 4.0 technology, powered by equipment from SKIOLD, a Danish company with over 140 years of experience in developing and manufacturing machinery. This advanced system aims to ensure high quality control, optimize farming efficiency, reduce production costs, and achieve high economic returns.

A notable feature of this project is its grid-connected solar power system, which will supply 30% of the complex's electricity. This clean energy source is expected to significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to traditional power. The project will also create 150 local jobs, providing specialized training in modern livestock farming technology, thereby contributing to the province's overall economic development.

De Heus and Hung Nhon's "Second Breakthrough" in the Central Highlands

The "DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Livestock Application Zone" marks the "second breakthrough" for De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group in the heart of the Central Highlands. Their initial "breakthrough" was the "DHN Dak Lak High-Tech Livestock Application Zone," which began construction in August 2020. That project is expected to start supplying clean, high-quality, international-standard pig breeding stock to the Vietnamese market by late 2021.

In 2020, De Heus and Hung Nhon further solidified their agricultural partnership by bringing new facilities into operation, including the Bien Dong DHS pig slaughterhouse in Nam Dinh and the Green Chicken European-standard poultry slaughterhouse in Hanoi.

Over the next 5-10 years, De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group plan to expand their network of large-scale great-grandparent pig breeding projects and establish disease-free zones across all five provinces of the Central Highlands. Following the completion of the Gia Lai project, further developments are planned for Dak Nong, Kon Tum, and Lam Dong. This expansion aims to increase their total capacity to 10,000 to 15,000 great-grandparent pigs and 100,000 to 120,000 grandparent pigs.

Once completed, this series of projects is expected to transform the Central Highlands into a leading center for pig breeding stock supply and the development of cutting-edge, high-tech livestock models in Southeast Asia and Asia.
