Hung Nhon Group and De Heus Partner to Expand High-Tech Livestock Production and Exports in Vietnam
On March 25, 2019, at 2:00 PM, a crucial meeting was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam. Under the direction and witness of Vice Minister Phung Duc Tien, the meeting convened to discuss the continued expansion and investment cooperation in the livestock and poultry sectors. This provided a valuable opportunity for businesses within the agricultural supply chain, as well as domestic and international import-export entities, to collectively evaluate opportunities, plan promotional collaborations, invest in, and expand the potential for livestock breeding and exports. It also highlighted efforts to contribute to the development of clean and sustainable food sources.
Hung Nhon's Pioneering Role in High-Tech Livestock
Hung Nhon Group has consistently been a pioneer in cultivation and livestock farming, especially in raising pigs, broiler chickens, and producing eggs. The group holds the distinction of being the first Vietnamese entity to apply the GlobalG.A.P. process to livestock production.
As a reputable and professional enterprise in the livestock sector, Hung Nhon aims to establish a joint venture company dedicated to supplying high-standard pig breeding stock in Dak Lak province. This initiative seeks to provide disease-free parent-stock pigs and commercial breeding pigs to the Vietnamese market, with an eye towards export. This will significantly contribute to improving Vietnam's disease safety standards.
Expanding the Vision: New Pig Breeding Project in Dak Lak
Building on Hung Nhon Group's existing strengths, plans are underway for a collaborative investment with De Heus LLC (Netherlands) to construct a modern pig farming system in Dak Lak province in 2019. This project, with a planned scale of 2,400 pigs, will be divided into four phases with a total investment of $22 million (equivalent to 500 billion VND).
Amidst the complex and unpredictable pig disease situation in Vietnam, Hung Nhon and De Heus recognize the critical importance of establishing disease-free zones. Furthermore, the demand for healthy, disease-free genetic stock for herd rebuilding after outbreaks is consistently high. Based on this reality, Hung Nhon and De Heus plan to form a joint venture company that will supply great-grandparent (GGP) and grandparent (GP) pig breeding stock in Dak Lak province. Carefully selected GGP and GP pig breeds will ensure excellent genetic sources, while breeding and reproduction processes will be tightly controlled, adhering to strict standards for feed, vaccination, and technical operations. This comprehensive approach aims to create and meet the increasing demand for high-quality GP, parent-stock (PS), and commercial breeding pigs, thereby enhancing breeding efficiency, providing clean agricultural products to the market, and moving towards the establishment of disease-free zones.
Future Outlook for Export Growth
With this joint venture and investment model, Hung Nhon Group hopes to significantly boost and expand the export of poultry and livestock meat products to other Southeast Asian countries in the near future.
