Hung Nhon Group Invests Millions in European Livestock Production Lines
Nearly four years ago, at Long An International Port, Hung Nhon Group became the first enterprise to successfully export 400 tons of chicken meat to the Japanese market.
Notably, Hung Nhon was also the first enterprise to receive GlobalGAP certification in 2018 from the international certification body Control Union for its Thuy Thao Broiler Farm. This achievement was particularly significant as it met 349 extremely stringent GlobalGAP criteria, which are hundreds of times more rigorous than the 12 criteria of VietGAP standards.
This certification not only serves as a "passport" for Hung Nhon's livestock products to enter demanding markets but also significantly enhances the company's reputation and brand.
To achieve this, Mr. Vu Manh Hung stated that from the very beginning of building the cold chicken farm, he was determined to pursue clean livestock farming, ensuring disease safety.
With the ambition to become a leading enterprise in the livestock sector, Mr. Hung heavily invested millions of USD to acquire modern European cold-chain farming lines to implement across the farm system in Thuan Loi commune, Dong Phu district.

On the 7-hectare farm, there are 8 chicken coops, each housing over 41,000 birds. All stages of chicken care, including feeding, watering, egg collection, and waste removal, are fully automated. This advanced system means only a few workers are needed for supervision.
Feed for the chickens is automatically transferred from an external boiler to individual coops, flowing directly into the troughs. When hens lay eggs, the eggs automatically roll into collection trays below, then a conveyor belt moves them outside for collection.
Workers simply collect the eggs, sort them, and then clean and disinfect them before placing them into trays. Chicken manure is transported to the back of the farm, where vehicles then collect it for delivery to the Dong Phu organic fertilizer processing plant, located just a few kilometers away.
Currently, the egg production at these laying hen farms reaches nearly 315,000 eggs per day, totaling 130 million eggs annually. Hung Nhon's eggs are currently being distributed in partnership with C.P. Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company.
Approximately 8km away is the Thuy Thao broiler farm, built on a 20-hectare area. It features 20 cold chicken houses that utilize advanced technology from Big Dutchman Group (Germany). All stages of the farming process are automated, with a total flock producing over 3 million chickens per year.
To execute these two chicken farming projects, Hung Nhon Group has collaborated with key partners:
- De Heus Group (Netherlands), specializing in animal feed supply.
- Bel Gà Joint Stock Company (Belgium), a leading supplier of breeding chickens in the Vietnamese market.
- San Ha Co., Ltd., which specializes in supplying commercial broilers to domestic supermarkets.
This collaboration forms an effective and sustainable integrated value chain. The total investment for these two farms, covering both laying hens and broilers, exceeds 180 billion VND.

In this collaborative model, Bel Gà Company supplies high-quality breeding stock, De Heus Group provides animal feed, and other companies handle processing, slaughtering, and product distribution to consumers. Hung Nhon Group, in turn, ensures standardized livestock production.
Leveraging the most advanced technology platform from Big Dutchman Group (Germany), all of Hung Nhon's farm systems adhere to the stringent standards of Global G.A.P. and ISO 9001:2008. Their entire chicken flock is raised using cold-house technology, meeting all 349 GlobalGAP criteria.
Beyond the high-tech focus of transforming traditional production methods into modern ones, our digital transformation specifically means changing our management approach. This shift allows us to leverage machinery so that human presence is no longer required directly at the farm.
Hung Nhon Group: Pioneering 4.0 Technology in Livestock Management
Hung Nhon Group is at the forefront of modernizing livestock farming, implementing a fully closed-loop, technology-driven process for its operations. This innovative approach integrates high-quality breeding stock, precise automatic dispensing of feed and water to reduce wastage and greenhouse gas emissions, and automation across harvesting, preservation, transportation, and processing. Furthermore, cloud computing is utilized to ensure traceability for all products.
Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of Hung Nhon Group, emphasizes the transformative impact of Industry 4.0 technology: "Thanks to 4.0 technology, human presence is no longer required directly at the chicken coops; we can control everything remotely." He highlights that machinery effectively connects all farms, simplifying management. This not only reduces labor costs but also maintains high productivity and significantly mitigates disease risks.
Hung Nhon Group currently owns 14 member companies and the DHN chain system, encompassing approximately 1,000 hectares of farms across the Southeast and Central Highlands regions of Vietnam.
Their extensive operations include:
- Broiler farms that supply over 3 million chickens annually to the market.
- Laying hen farms that produce more than 130 million eggs per year.
Additionally, the Group operates farms for great-grandparent, grandparent, parent, and commercial pigs, all meeting Vietnamese and international standards. These farms collectively yield 14,000 breeding pigs (parent stock) and 375,000 commercial pigs annually.
