Recently in Hanoi, De Heus LLC (Netherlands) and Hung Nhon Group (Binh Phuoc, Vietnam) jointly held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding on a joint venture cooperation agreement between the two companies.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished delegation, including Her Excellency Elsbeth Akkerman, Ambassador of the Netherlands; Ms. Cora van Nieuwenhuizen, Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management; Mr. Menno Snel, State Secretary for Finance; Ms. Marjolijn Sonnema, Deputy Minister of Agriculture; and Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment. Representatives from various central ministries and the business communities of both Vietnam and the Netherlands were also present to witness this significant event.

In response to the complex and evolving pig disease situation, De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group recognize the critical importance of establishing disease-free zones in pig farming. There's also a pressing need for healthy, high-yield, and high-quality genetic breeding stock to facilitate herd rebuilding after disease outbreaks, a necessity for numerous businesses and farming households.
Building on this understanding, De Heus and Hung Nhon have collaborated to form DHN Dak Lak High-Yield Pig Breeding Development Joint Stock Company.
The two companies will jointly invest in building a modern pig farming system in Dak Lak province, utilizing Industry 4.0 technology. Great-grandparent (GGP) and grandparent (GP) pigs, carefully selected and directly imported from the Netherlands, will form the foundation for producing high-quality GP and parent-stock (PS) pigs. This ensures a superior genetic pool for high reproductive performance to supply Vietnamese farmers.
The entire farming process will be automated with Industry 4.0 applications, from De Heus's feed mill to individual pigs fitted with microchips. Furthermore, advanced software will be used for farm management, allowing the company to precisely monitor farm conditions, animal health, feed rations, growth periods, and reproductive cycles for each animal.
The pig breeding project in Dak Lak will have a capacity for 2,400 GGP and GP pigs. Divided into four phases, the project has a total investment of approximately $22 million (500 billion VND).
Once completed and operational, the project will annually supply approximately 22,000 GP and PS pigs to the market.
Within this project, a management software will be developed to track input and output costs, thereby calculating the efficiency of the breeding process. Crucially, the software will also feature an alert function for adverse issues, aiding farm management in providing timely solutions.
This project is poised to generate and meet the surging demand for high-quality grandparent (GP) and parent-stock (PS) pigs, contributing to enhanced breeding efficiency, supplying clean agricultural products to the market, and moving towards the establishment of disease-free zones.
A novel aspect of this pig breeding project in Dak Lak is the solar power system for the farms. This marks it as the first livestock farm model in Vietnam to have such a system integrated from the outset, utilizing solar energy for production. This commitment to solar power not only demonstrates environmental protection but also offers long-term benefits through lower electricity costs compared to other sources. This initiative underscores De Heus's dedication to providing clean and sustainable products to its customers, from animal feed to high-quality breeding stock.
