They were welcomed by Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee and Provincial Party Secretary, along with members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and leaders from various provincial departments.
Key Discussions with Provincial Leadership
Before field visits, Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong and his delegation held a working session with provincial leaders. Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Loi provided a swift update on Binh Phuoc's socio-economic situation, particularly its current agricultural landscape. He detailed the production of the province's key commodities and crops, livestock activities, the new rural development program, and the progress of building 1,000 km of rural concrete roads. Secretary Loi also requested support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for the consumption of the province's livestock products.
Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong acknowledged that some agricultural sectors are facing a global crisis, including key products from Binh Phuoc, such as Vietnamese pepper, which leads the world in production but suffers from oversupply. He advised that key pepper-growing areas like Binh Phuoc should convert unsuitable land to other crops, such as fruit trees and vegetables.
The Minister suggested that Binh Phuoc has a significant advantage in its proximity to Ho Chi Minh City's 12-million-strong market. By closely aligning with this large consumer base, products from converted pepper areas and other crops in Binh Phuoc would find ample outlets. He emphasized that Binh Phuoc's agricultural sector must keep this in mind during crop restructuring. He also stressed the need for the province to strategize to become a major livestock hub in the region and a key national livestock center, while maintaining its role as the cashew capital not only of Vietnam but globally.
Visits to Hung Nhon Group and CP Vietnam
Following the meeting with provincial leaders, the Ministry's delegation visited Hung Nhon Group in Dong Phu district. Leaders of Hung Nhon Group reported on their development orientation in Binh Phuoc for the 2019-2022 period, which includes expanding their new livestock farm system to double current capacity, increasing the laying hen flock to 700,000 birds, egg production to 260 million eggs/year, and broiler chicken flock to 6 million birds.
Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong and Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Loi highly praised Hung Nhon Group's development strategy and urged provincial and Ministry agencies to provide full support for the group's growth, enabling it to make even greater contributions to the agricultural sector.
On the same day, the delegation also visited CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company (CPV Food), which is constructing a factory in the Becamex - Binh Phuoc Industrial Park in Chon Thanh district. Leaders of CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company stated that this is one of their largest projects, not only for CP Vietnam but for the poultry industry in Vietnam and the wider region. The project's strategy focuses on exporting processed chicken meat products to Japan, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and globally, with the ambition of becoming the "Kitchen of the World."
In his discussion with leaders from CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company and CPV Food Co., Ltd., Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong specifically noted that to export to Europe and other developed countries, environmental considerations are paramount. Importing countries will conduct on-site inspections, which will require the presence of an organic fertilizer processing plant for livestock waste; without this, exports will not be possible.
