In the context of the agricultural sector facing multiple challenges, the call from the Minister of Agriculture and Environment is strongly encouraging enterprises to build green value chains, laying the foundation for enhancing agricultural product value and promoting sustainable development.
Formation of a Green Agricultural Linkage Ecosystem
In an open letter to the business community at the beginning of 2026, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang delivered a strong message on building a self-reliant, modern, and sustainable agricultural sector. Amid ongoing fluctuations in logistics costs and input materials, the Minister emphasized the urgent need to “strengthen value chain linkages,” “prioritize the use of Vietnamese goods,” and implement the principle of “harmonized benefits and shared risks” among stakeholders involved in production.
This message serves not only as strategic guidance but also as a compass for pioneering enterprises to translate into concrete actions. In practice, the development of green, closed-loop value chains is emerging as an effective solution to enhance added value, mitigate risks, and safeguard the long-term interests of farmers.
In response to the Minister’s call, the De Heus – Hung Nhon alliance has taken the lead in building a model circular, closed-loop agricultural value chain aligned with global standards. Specifically, this ecosystem forms an integrated value chain encompassing breeding stock (Bel Ga), animal feed (De Heus), farm and housing solutions (Hung Nhon), high-tech livestock farming (DHN), veterinary pharmaceuticals (Visakan), and slaughtering and processing (Green Chicken), following a “farm-to-table” model. In addition, the value chain is expanded through strategic partnerships with leading international partners such as Big Dutchman (Germany), Olmix (France), Orvia (France), and Den Ouden GrowSolutions (the Netherlands).
At the event announcing the “Sustainable Agricultural Value Chain Development Strategy for the 2026–2036 Period,” held on March 10, 2026, in Hanoi, the business alliance reaffirmed its long-term investment commitment with total resources amounting to VND 18.3 trillion.
This capital is strategically allocated toward developing modern livestock infrastructure, building processing plants, strengthening disease control, and expanding raw material zones. One of the key projects is a slaughtering and processing facility in Tay Ninh, expected to become operational in 2027, contributing to the completion of the value chain and increasing product value.
Such well-planned and strategic investments not only improve production efficiency but also create jobs, stimulate local economic development, and enable independent farmers to participate more deeply in the value chain.
Strengthening Internal Capacity Across Value Chain Linkages
One of the key factors determining the success of a value chain is the role of each component in ensuring quality and sustainability. Among these, the veterinary and biosecurity sectors play a particularly critical role.
Visakan Company (Hung Nhon Group) serves as a vital link responsible for safeguarding biosecurity and animal health. In May 2024, Visakan successfully exported its first batch of veterinary pharmaceuticals to Indonesia—a Halal market.
Next-generation veterinary products have been developed with a focus on reducing antibiotic residues, meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of global markets. At the same time, successfully entering demanding export markets such as Halal markets has helped affirm the credibility and capabilities of Vietnamese enterprises.
Beyond product supply, companies are also intensifying technical advisory services, working closely with farmers to implement green and circular production solutions. This approach helps reduce costs, improve productivity, and ensure that products meet international standards.
In the context of rising input costs, maintaining price stability, sustaining production, and sharing difficulties with farmers are also crucial factors that help build trust and encourage herd restocking.
Practical experience from value chain models shows that when enterprises take the lead, technology serves as the foundation, and farmers are placed at the center of the value chain, the agricultural sector can develop in a more sustainable and efficient manner.
The development of green value chains not only enhances the value of agricultural products but also creates an environmentally friendly production ecosystem that adapts to climate change and meets the increasingly demanding requirements of international markets.
The message conveyed in the Minister’s letter is being translated into concrete actions by the business community. This forms a vital foundation for Vietnam’s agriculture to move toward modernization, strengthen its competitiveness, and affirm its position in the global market.
