Hung Nhon Group (Binh Phuoc) has officially joined forces with the Netherlands' De Heus Group to establish DHN Dak Lak High-Yield Pig Breeding Development Joint Stock Company.
The partnership was formalized during a signing ceremony held on April 10 in Hanoi, witnessed by representatives from both the Vietnamese and Dutch governments. This collaboration is seen not only as a testament to the friendship between the two nations but also as a pivotal step expected to create a significant breakthrough for Vietnam's livestock industry.
A reporter from Dak Lak Newspaper recently had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of Hung Nhon Group, to discuss the details and implications of this landmark venture.

Hung Nhon Group's Strategic Investment in Dak Lak: A High-Tech Leap for Vietnam's Livestock Sector
DAK LAK – Hung Nhon Group has embarked on a pivotal partnership with Dutch giant De Heus to establish a high-tech pig breeding complex in Dak Lak. Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman and CEO of Hung Nhon Group, recently shared insights into the strategic decision and the project's ambitious vision.
"The primary reason Hung Nhon Group chose Dak Lak for this investment is the scarcity of high-quality, disease-free pig breeding stock in Vietnam, especially following disease outbreaks," Mr. Hung explained. "When considering investment in breeding, the livestock environment is our top priority. Through our surveys, we found Dak Lak to be an ideal location due to its favorable natural conditions, mild climate, minimal impact from storms and floods, sparse existing livestock density, and convenient transportation. These factors are perfect for breeding and producing pigs to supply provinces in the Central-Central Highlands, Southeastern Vietnam, and eventually for export to regional countries."
He added, "Dak Lak also offers attractive investment policies, and the local government consistently strives to improve administrative procedures, creating a favorable and appealing investment environment."
Project Scope and Cutting-Edge Technology
Mr. Hung provided details on the project's scale and implementation phases. "The project is designed to breed 2,400 great-grandparent (GGP) and grandparent (GP) pigs, divided into four phases, with a total investment of approximately $22 million (500 billion VND)," he stated. "Once completed and operational, it will supply around 22,000 GP and parent-stock (PS) pigs to the market annually."
A key highlight is the project's high-tech farming approach. "The entire breeding process will be automated using Industry 4.0 technology, from De Heus's feed mill to individual pigs fitted with microchips," Mr. Hung emphasized. "Additionally, farm management software will allow us to monitor farm conditions, animal health, feed rations, growth periods, and reproductive cycles for each animal. This software will also help manage input and output costs to calculate farming efficiency and, notably, provide early warnings for potential issues, enabling De Heus's technical team to analyze and implement timely solutions."
In a pioneering move for Vietnam, the farm will utilize a solar power system. "This is the first livestock farm model in Vietnam to have a solar power system invested from the initial stage and used for production," Mr. Hung proudly shared. "Beyond environmental protection, solar power offers long-term cost benefits, reinforcing De Heus's commitment to providing clean and sustainable products, from feed to high-quality breeding stock. The project will also create numerous job opportunities for local people, particularly ethnic minorities, and establish strong livestock linkages with farmers in the province."
Strategic Partnership with De Heus: A Breakthrough for Vietnam's Livestock
Mr. Hung elaborated on the significant prospects opened by partnering with De Heus Group. "De Heus has over 100 years of experience in animal feed production and successful livestock development partnerships globally," he noted. "In Vietnam, De Heus operates under the motto, 'No competition with farmers,' but rather collaborates to create a closed livestock value chain alongside Vietnamese farmers."
"This collaboration with De Heus will create a breakthrough in applying scientific technology to livestock farming," Mr. Hung asserted. "It will meet the high demand for healthy, disease-free genetic stock with high reproductive performance and quality for the Vietnamese market, especially after disease outbreaks, when farmers desperately need commercial sows with good genetics for herd rebuilding. The joint effort between De Heus and Hung Nhon to implement this project in Dak Lak will establish a disease-free breeding zone, aiming to export breeding stock to other countries in the region."
