According to Mr. Vu Manh Hung, the project previously faced several obstacles that caused delays. However, thanks to the support and resolution efforts from local departments and authorities, the legal procedures for construction were completed, allowing the project to officially commence on May 10. The entire project is planned to be completed and operational by December 2026, with a breeding capacity of 2,500 great-grandparent pigs.

In addition to the livestock farm, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hieu, External Relations Director of De Heus Vietnam, shared the joint venture’s plans to invest in a research and development project for feed crop raw materials, linked with cooperative models in the Central Highlands region.

Mr. Hieu stated that initially, the company will cooperate with Agriterra, a Dutch cooperative development organization, to develop a maize production area for animal feed based on cooperative development in the three provinces of Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Kon Tum.

Gia Lai Chairman: The Project Plays a Strategic Role

Chairman of the People's Committee of Gia Lai Province, Mr. Rah Lan Chung, assessed that the “DHN Gia Lai High-Tech Livestock Farm Project” is not merely a livestock and breeding facility but plays a strategic role in promoting the development of the local livestock industry. It aims to build a disease-safe zone and a value chain in Gia Lai and surrounding areas. According to Mr. Rah Lan Chung, the project will create jobs and social cohesion, improving local livelihoods. It serves as a model of modern, sustainable, and environmentally friendly livestock farming.

DHN Joint Venture: A Highlight in Vietnam–Netherlands Relations

In addition to the Gia Lai project, the investor is also developing the DHN Dak Lak High-Tech Agricultural Complex (200 hectares) with a total investment of USD 66 million (approximately VND 1,500 billion). This is the first in a series of high-tech agricultural complexes co-developed by De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group in the Central Highlands.

In Lam Dong, the joint venture also has three poultry farming projects with a total area of 30 hectares and a total investment of nearly VND 350 billion. Once completed, the DHN project chain will transform the Central Highlands into a disease-safe livestock region, producing high-quality agricultural products within a closed-loop system. The estimated total revenue from DHN’s projects in the Central Highlands is expected to reach USD 2 billion by 2030.

“The DHN joint venture is also a highlight in the friendly relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands. In 2022, when the two groups signed a memorandum of understanding in the Netherlands, the ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. Notably, the project chain will contribute to positioning the Central Highlands as a center for breeding pig production and the development of high-tech livestock models for Vietnam and Asia,” emphasized Mr. Vu Manh Hung.

According to Mr. Vu Manh Hung, a key strength of the DHN project chain is the 100% application of high-tech farming based on Dutch international standards; it also utilizes a grid-connected solar power system, with 30% of its electricity being clean energy, significantly reducing CO2 emissions. The project applies environmentally friendly practices, energy-saving technologies in livestock farming and crop cultivation, and adheres to both Vietnamese and international technical and organic farming standards.
