De Heus LLC (a subsidiary of De Heus Group, Netherlands) and Hung Nhon Group (Binh Phuoc province, Vietnam) are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on a joint venture agreement. The signing ceremony will take place on April 10 in Hanoi.
This significant event will be witnessed by representatives from the governments of both the Netherlands and Vietnam, along with delegates from central ministries and business communities from both countries. The collaboration is expected to further strengthen agricultural ties between the two nations.
In response to the complex and evolving pig disease situation, particularly the critical need for disease-free zones in pig farming, De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group have recognized the paramount importance of biosecurity. They've also identified a pressing demand from numerous businesses and households for high-quality, disease-free genetic breeding stock with high reproductive performance to facilitate herd rebuilding after outbreaks. This shared understanding has led De Heus and Hung Nhon to collaborate on establishing DHN Dak Lak High-Yield Pig Breeding Development Joint Stock Company.
Mr. Gabor Fluit, General Director of De Heus LLC, stated, "There is a genuine demand for high-quality pig breeds in Vietnam. Meanwhile, the supply of healthy pig lines with good genetics in Vietnam is scarce. Therefore, our two companies have partnered to form this breeding pig project. We hope that with De Heus Group's long-standing tradition and experience in livestock development, combined with Hung Nhon Group's strong reputation and capabilities in Vietnam's livestock industry, this pig breeding project in Dak Lak province will be successful."
This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both companies to deliver superior genetic material and contribute to a more resilient and sustainable pig farming sector in Vietnam.
$22 Million High-Tech Pig Breeding Project in Dak Lak to Revolutionize Swine Industry
A groundbreaking $22 million (500 billion VND) project is set to transform Vietnam's pig breeding industry in Dak Lak. This initiative, a collaboration between De Heus and Hung Nhon Group, will establish a state-of-the-art farm with a breeding capacity of 2,400 great-grandparent (GGP) and grandparent (GP) pigs. The project will be implemented in four phases. Once fully operational, it's expected to supply approximately 22,000 GP and parent-stock (PS) pigs to the market annually.
Leveraging Industry 4.0 for Superior Genetics
This project marks a significant first for Vietnam, as De Heus and Hung Nhon Group will jointly develop an incredibly modern pig farming system utilizing Industry 4.0 technology in Dak Lak. The GGP and GP pig breeds will be meticulously selected and imported directly from the Netherlands, forming the foundation for producing high-quality GP and PS pigs.
This ensures a superior genetic pool, leading to high reproductive performance and providing Vietnamese farmers with premium breeding stock. The entire pig breeding process at the facility will be automated using Industry 4.0 applications, from De Heus's feed mill all the way to individual pigs fitted with microchips.
Furthermore, the project will implement advanced software for farm management. This will enable the company to precisely monitor farm conditions, animal health, feed rations, growth periods, and reproductive cycles for each individual pig. The software will also facilitate comprehensive management of input and output costs, allowing for accurate calculation of farming efficiency.
The new pig breeding project in Dak Lak marks a significant milestone for sustainable agriculture in Vietnam, according to Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of Hung Nhon Group. He stated, "The innovative aspect of the pig breeding project in Dak Lak is the comprehensive solar power system invested right from the start for the farms. This is the first livestock farm model in Vietnam to have such a system installed from its inception, utilizing solar energy for production."
This commitment to solar power not only benefits the environment but also offers long-term economic advantages, with solar electricity being more cost-effective than traditional sources. This initiative underscores De Heus's commitment to providing clean and sustainable products to customers, from animal feed to high-quality breeding stock.
Mr. Vu Manh Hung highlighted Hung Nhon Group's pioneering role in Vietnam's agricultural sector, particularly in livestock (pigs) and poultry (broiler chickens, eggs). Hung Nhon Group's production process follows a closed-loop value chain model, encompassing breeding stock, feed, farming practices, and even slaughtering and processing. This ensures the supply of clean, safe, and stable products to the market for farmers. Their production lines are fully automated, utilizing the most modern technology and adhering to 349 stringent GlobalG.A.P standards.
De Heus Vietnam, a subsidiary of the Royal De Heus Group, specializes in producing high-quality animal feed for livestock, poultry, and aquaculture under renowned brands like De Heus, Windmill, and Koudijs. In Vietnam, De Heus currently operates nine factories and a network of transit warehouses nationwide.
With the combined expertise, experience, and capabilities of De Heus and Hung Nhon, the DHN Dak Lak High-Yield Pig Breeding Development Joint Stock Company project is poised to significantly contribute to the robust development of Vietnam's livestock industry in the near future. This collaboration also deepens the strong bond and enduring friendship between the Netherlands and Vietnam.

Hung Nhon: Controlling the Entire Value Chain to Access International Markets
“A good product alone is not enough to enter highly demanding markets. Behind the product must be an integrated production chain with consistent control, from breeding stock, animal feed, farms and biosecurity to processing, traceability and environmental standards.”
