Gia Lai: Nearly VND 1 trillion livestock project becomes operational 10 months ahead of schedule

A delegation from the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee visited and worked at the DHN Gia Lai high-tech livestock farming project in Ia Le commune.

The visit took place on March 11 and was led by Mr. Thai Dai Ngoc, Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee. It aimed to assess the project’s implementation progress and operational efficiency following completion, while also discussing the direction for expanding the high-tech agricultural value chain in Gia Lai province in the coming period.

The project is jointly invested and developed by Hung Nhon Group and De Heus Group, with a total investment of nearly VND 1 trillion. It aims to position the Central Highlands as a hub for high-quality, disease-free breeding stock, contributing to the modernization of the livestock sector and the development of a high-tech agricultural value chain in the locality.

According to the approved investment plan, the project is implemented in two phases: phase 1 was completed and put into operation in Q4 2024, while phase 2 was scheduled for completion in Q4 2026. However, thanks to close coordination between the enterprise and local authorities, along with the investor’s strong execution capacity, phase 2 was completed and officially put into operation in February 2026—10 months ahead of the committed schedule stated in the Investment Registration Certificate. This is considered a clear demonstration of the investor’s implementation capability and its serious, long-term commitment to Gia Lai province.

Reporting to the delegation, Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of Hung Nhon Group, stated that after both phases are fully synchronized in operation, the project’s production capacity has recorded strong growth. Specifically, the output of replacement gilts is expected to increase by 1,556% in 2026 and continue rising to approximately 3,740% in 2027 when the farm reaches stable capacity.

Weaned piglet production has also shown significant growth, reaching around 32,448 heads in 2026, an increase of approximately 247% compared to the previous year, and is projected to grow by 422% in 2027. In addition, commercial pork products will officially be supplied to the market starting in 2026 once both phases of the project are fully operational.

“The expansion in production scale not only demonstrates the effectiveness of the high-tech livestock farming model but also enables the locality to proactively secure high-quality breeding stock, reducing dependence on supply from other provinces. At the same time, the introduction of high-quality F1 breeding lines from the project is expected to drive local farms to upgrade technologies, improve management practices, and enhance breeding quality, thereby contributing to the modernization of the livestock sector in the Central Highlands,” Mr. Vu Manh Hung shared.

Alongside its economic objectives, the project places strong emphasis on environmental protection and sustainable development. The entire operation is designed based on a circular economy model, where livestock waste is treated through advanced biogas systems and composting processes, converting it into organic fertilizers for agricultural production. The project is also accelerating investment in rooftop solar power systems, aiming to supply approximately 30% of its electricity demand from renewable energy sources, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a “green livestock farming” model.

According to Mr. Vu Manh Hung, the project is currently providing stable employment for around 100 local workers, with an average income of approximately VND 12 million per person per month. In addition, the company regularly organizes livestock farming technical training programs aligned with international standards such as GlobalGAP and ISO to enhance the quality of the local workforce.

At the same time, corporate social responsibility activities are consistently implemented, including support for building charitable houses, great unity houses, assisting disadvantaged families, and investing in school infrastructure in the locality.

Building on the success of the DHN Gia Lai project, both groups have identified Gia Lai as a strategic location in their roadmap for developing a high-tech agricultural value chain in the Central – Central Highlands region for the 2026–2036 period. The total estimated investment for expansion projects is approximately USD 106 million (equivalent to VND 2.8 trillion).

He also acknowledged the project’s positive contributions to socio-economic development, job creation, and the transformation of livestock farming models in the locality.

He stated that he would direct relevant departments and agencies to strengthen coordination with the enterprise to promptly complete legal procedures and ensure the timely implementation of upcoming projects, contributing to the goal of developing Gia Lai into a model high-tech agricultural hub in the Central Highlands region.
