On the morning of May 2nd, the first export shipment of veterinary drugs to the Islamic (Halal) market officially took place at the Dong Tho Multi-Industry Industrial Cluster in Bac Ninh. This event marks a crucial turning point for Vietnam's agriculture and livestock industry on its path to accessing the Halal market, one of the most demanding markets in the world.
"Ceremony for the Export of the First Batch of Veterinary Drugs to the Islamic (Halal) Market" was officially held at the Dong Tho Multi-Industry Industrial Cluster in Bac Ninh. This event was organized by Visakan Biotechnology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, a part of the Hung Nhon Group ecosystem.
Attendees at the export ceremony included: Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien, former Member of the Central Party Committee and former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mr. Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Chairwoman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Gabor Fluit, Global CEO of De Heus; Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of Hung Nhon Group; Ambassadors and Chargé d'affaires ad interim from Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Myanmar; trade counselors representing Denmark, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, Myanmar, and Nigeria; and representatives from various Departments, Bureaus, Provincial Party Committee leaders, Provincial People's Committee leaders, and representatives from departments, agencies, districts, and towns within Bac Ninh province.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Chairwoman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, stated that this event holds significant meaning for Bac Ninh province in particular and Vietnamese agriculture in general. It marks a new development in the research and production of veterinary drugs using modern technology, meeting the stringent standards and demanding conditions of the global market. "Halal is one of the most discerning markets in the world with a series of strict standards. Therefore, Visakan's export of this batch of veterinary drugs to the Halal market is considered an incredibly important turning point in Hung Nhon Group's development strategy," Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang shared.
Bac Ninh, with its advantageous geographical location, is currently a region experiencing high economic growth and strong economic exchange, offering many benefits for economic restructuring and serving as an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investors. As of Quarter 1, 2024, Bac Ninh province ranked second nationwide in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), trailing only Hanoi, accounting for nearly 12.1% of the country's total.
In terms of newly granted projects, Bac Ninh province also ranked second nationwide (after Ho Chi Minh City) with 105 projects. These figures demonstrate that the locality continues to maintain a strong appeal for foreign investors, despite economic fluctuations and shifts in global investment flows.

Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of Hung Nhon Group, expressed his pride in announcing that this is Visakan's first export of veterinary drugs to the Halal market. The Global Islamic Economy Report estimates that spending on Halal food is rapidly increasing from $1.4 trillion in 2020 to $1.9 trillion by 2030, and nearly $5 trillion by 2050. Therefore, with the advantage of abundant raw materials and being located in Asia, home to approximately 62% of the world's Muslim population, this presents a potential market for Vietnamese enterprises.
Looking at the development strategy of Visakan and Hung Nhon Group, it's clear they are not solely focused on business objectives but also on sustainable development and forming a closed-loop value chain. The establishment of the De Heus - Hung Nhon ecosystem (alongside DHN, Bel Gà, Visakan, and Green Chicken) following a "farm-to-table" model is a clear testament to this commitment.
Also in his speech, Mr. Vu Manh Hung disclosed information about a significant event scheduled for May 18th. This event will be organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, in cooperation with Hung Nhon Group and De Heus Group.
The series of events will include: the inauguration ceremony of the DHN Tay Ninh High-Tech Livestock Farming Area, the groundbreaking ceremony for 7 key projects within the DHN Tay Ninh high-tech agricultural complex, the recognition ceremony for the Disease-Free Zone in Tay Ninh province, and the announcement of the plan to export poultry products to the Halal market. This event promises to attract significant interest from both the public and investors in the agriculture, livestock, and rural development sectors.
At the event, Mr. Gabor Fluit, Global CEO of De Heus, shared insights into their partnership strategy with Hung Nhon. He stated that the two "locomotives," De Heus and Hung Nhon, along with their members, will build a closed-loop value chain operating under a green and sustainable model. This approach, known as "from farm to table," is increasingly being pursued by global corporations.
Introducing the export shipment, Mr. Tran Van Binh, General Director of Visakan, announced that the consignment exported to the Indonesian market includes antibiotics and disinfectants under the Sakan brand, with a total export value exceeding $200,000 USD. These products have achieved WHO-GMP/GLP/GSP standards, are certified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and are highly regarded for their quality and safety.
Sakan has over 200 products approved for circulation in the domestic market, partnering with animal feed companies, distributors, livestock farms, and aquaculture facilities nationwide. Beyond Indonesia, 23 product lines under the Sakan brand are present in 13 countries and territories worldwide. Sakan also boasts a laboratory (Lab) that meets ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.
Currently, several Sakan-branded products are exclusively distributed by Visakan. For 2024, Visakan anticipates achieving a revenue of over 300 billion VND (approximately $10.7 million USD). The ambitious revenue target for the 2025-2030 period is set at over 1,200 billion VND (approximately $48 million USD).
Alongside the ceremony for the first export of veterinary drugs to the Islamic market, three companies—Visakan (Sakan), PT. Ekasapta Wijayatangguh (Indonesia), and De Heus Indonesia—signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a collaborative program to link the production and supply chain of veterinary drugs and disinfectants in Indonesia.
Under this agreement, Visakan will be responsible for supplying veterinary drugs and disinfectants, meeting the quality and quantity requirements as requested by its partners. PT. Ekasapta Wijayatangguh will handle the import and distribution of products to De Heus Indonesia within the Indonesian market. De Heus Indonesia commits to prioritizing the use of products supplied by the members participating in this value chain linkage established by the MoU.

“A good product alone is not enough to enter highly demanding markets. Behind the product must be an integrated production chain with consistent control, from breeding stock, animal feed, farms and biosecurity to processing, traceability and environmental standards.”
