Kon Tum, November 29, 2021 – Hung Nhon Group and De Heus Group officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee for collaborative investment in a High-Tech Agricultural Application Zone Complex.
The signing ceremony for a groundbreaking high-tech agricultural project in Kon Tum took place on November 29, 2021, at a conference jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, and the De Heus and Hung Nhon Groups.
Project Scope and Investment
This "super project" represents a significant investment in Vietnam's agricultural sector, with a total land area spanning over 200 hectares and an estimated investment capital of $65 million USD (equivalent to 1,450 billion VND). The comprehensive complex will include:
- High-tech livestock and poultry farming complexes: Utilizing advanced technologies for efficient production.
- European-standard slaughterhouses: For both livestock and poultry, ensuring high hygiene and quality standards.
- High-tech organic agricultural cultivation zones: Focusing on sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.
In addition to these facilities, the two groups plan to develop raw material areas to supply their animal feed production factories. The project will also feature a breeding research center and a training center for high-tech agricultural labor, aiming to cultivate a skilled workforce for the sector.
High-Yield Pig Breeding Farm
A key component of this initiative is the Kon Tum High-Yield Pig Breeding Farm. This facility will have a capacity for 2,500 grandparent and great-grandparent pigs, carefully selected to ensure superior genetic quality. Upon completion and operation, the farm is projected to supply approximately 24,000 parent and gilts (replacement breeding pigs) to the market annually.
This ambitious project is set to significantly contribute to the modernization and sustainability of Kon Tum's agricultural landscape, fostering high-value production and economic growth in the region.
The entire breeding and production process will be strictly controlled, adhering to standards for feed sources, vaccinations, and technical procedures. This ensures the creation and fulfillment of the growing demand for high-quality grandparent, parent, and commercial breeding pigs, with the ultimate goal of establishing a disease-free zone.
Upon completion, alongside the DHN high-tech agricultural complexes in Đắk Lắk and Gia Lai, the Kon Tum high-yield pig breeding farm will become a fast and reliable source of high-quality pig breeds for the Central Highlands, Southeast, and South Central Coast regions.
Simultaneously, the project will create employment opportunities for 250-300 ethnic minority individuals in Kon Tum. It will also provide training for skilled human resources in high-value livestock farming and organic cultivation using modern technology, transferring advanced breeding techniques to hundreds of workers, and contributing to local economic development.
Hung Nhon Group Chooses Kon Tum
Sharing the reason for choosing Kon Tum as their location in the Central Highlands, Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hung Nhon Group, stated: "Hung Nhon doesn't just choose land; first and foremost, we choose people. With the warm welcome from the leaders of Kon Tum province in such a solemn atmosphere, we will reciprocate with the diligent efforts of both groups. This project will undoubtedly be a success."
Kon Tum, Vietnam – Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, expressed his enthusiasm for the Royal De Heus Group and Hung Nhon Group's decision to invest in the province. He highlighted Kon Tum's significant agricultural potential, noting that while the province has over 300,000 hectares of agricultural land, its population is only 555,000 people. This large land reserve, however, is currently underutilized due to outdated and inefficient farming practices.
"On average, each hectare of land in Kon Tum yields only about 50 – 100 million VND per year, whereas in Lâm Đồng, it's 500 – 600 million VND per year," Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan illustrated. "Therefore, we hope De Heus and Hung Nhon Group come to Kon Tum as quickly as possible. The province will create all favorable conditions for businesses to explore and implement high-tech agricultural complex investment activities."
Sustainable Development and Value Chain Focus
Mr. Willem Schoustr, Agricultural Counselor at the Embassy of Vietnam in the Netherlands, emphasized the importance of sustainable resource utilization, stating, "Resources themselves are limited. Therefore, exploitation must ensure sustainability, both nurturing and maintaining. The cooperation between De Heus and Hung Nhon Group is a testament to how to invest in developing a sustainable livestock value chain."
This collaboration is expected to bring much-needed modernization and efficiency to Kon Tum's agricultural sector, leveraging its vast land resources for higher yields and sustainable development.
