Hung Nhon: Controlling the Entire Value Chain to Access International Markets

“A good product alone is not enough to enter highly demanding markets. Behind the product must be an integrated production chain with consistent control, from breeding stock, animal feed, farms and biosecurity to processing, traceability and environmental standards.”

This was the message emphasized by Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hung Nhon Group, at the 2026 Tay Ninh Conference on Connecting Supply Chains for Import-Export Goods and E-Commerce, held on September 5.

According to Mr. Vu Manh Hung, after nearly 30 years of operation in livestock farming and cooperation with leading European groups, Hung Nhon has recognized that the most important requirement when accessing highly demanding markets is the ability to maintain consistent quality throughout the entire value chain.

Mr. Vu Manh Hung emphasizes the importance of integrated control across the entire value chain to meet increasingly stringent international market standards.Vũ Mạnh Hùng nhấn mạnh yêu cầu kiểm soát đồng bộ toàn chuỗi nhằm đáp ứng các tiêu chuẩn ngày càng cao của thị trường quốc tế.

Based on this approach, Hung Nhon has developed a value-chain linkage model of “Breeding Stock – Feed – Livestock Farming – Processing – Consumption.” Each link is undertaken by specialized partners with respective strengths, thereby creating an integrated production ecosystem rather than a series of disconnected stages.

Within this value chain, Hung Nhon focuses on investing in and developing a farm system applying high technology while ensuring biosecurity and environmental control. De Heus (the Netherlands) leverages more than 100 years of experience in animal feed; Bel Gà (Belgium), with more than 80 years of experience, supplies high-quality breeding stock. Meanwhile, Big Dutchman (Germany) provides technology and equipment solutions, while Olmix (France) and Boehringer Ingelheim (Germany) provide solutions for veterinary care, animal health and biosecurity.

Connecting businesses with specialized expertise at each stage enables the production chain not only to improve productivity but also to work toward a unified set of standards from inputs through to outputs. According to Mr. Vu Manh Hung, this is a critical foundation for businesses to meet the increasingly stringent requirements of international markets. For highly demanding markets, the quality of the final product is only part of the equation. Businesses must also be able to demonstrate how the product was produced, where its raw materials originated, how the livestock were raised, and whether safety and transparency were ensured throughout the process.

These requirements are further concretized in the Hung Nhon – De Heus Sustainable Agriculture Value Chain Development Strategy for 2026–2036. In Tay Ninh alone, the two parties plan to develop 13 projects with total investment capital of approximately VND 18.3 trillion, equivalent to US$700 million. Once completed, the entire value chain is expected to reach a scale of 10,000 great-grandparent pigs, 200 million breeding chickens, 3 million layers, 1 million pullets, and 25 million broiler chickens for export. The total value chain is expected to generate annual revenue of approximately US$2 billion.

“However, the objective of the strategy is not simply to expand livestock numbers or increase production capacity. More importantly, it is about completing an integrated value chain from production and processing to markets, enabling businesses to control quality, increase added value and meet the increasingly stringent standards of international markets,” Mr. Hung shared.
